Carlow County Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Urban Agency as the official design team for the Carlow Town Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF). This partnership marks an important milestone in the transformation and enhancement of Carlow Town.
Carlow Town URDF aims to revitalise and rejuvenate the town, creating a thriving urban centre that meets the needs and aspirations of the community. Urban Agency will be responsible for developing a comprehensive design plan that encompasses architectural design, landscape design, urban planning, and the integration of sustainable practices.
“We are delighted to appoint Urban Agency as our design team for the Carlow Town URDF,” said Cllr. T O’Neill, Mayor of the Municipal District of Carlow. “Their expertise in urban design and their track record make them the ideal partner to help us reimagine and reinvigorate Carlow Town. An Cathaoirleach, Carlow County Council, Cllr. A Dalton concurred with the mayor’s statement adding “we have great confidence in their ability to create a vision for our town that reflects our unique identity, improves quality of life, and attracts visitors and investment.”
Urban Agency is equally excited about this opportunity and to contribute to the transformation of Carlow Town. “We are honoured to have been selected as the design team for Carlow Town URDF,” said Andrew Griffin. “Our goal is to collaboratively create a sustainable and vibrant urban environment that enhances the town’s character, promotes community engagement, and creates spaces for people to live, work, and enjoy.”
The appointment of Urban Agency was made after a thorough evaluation of proposals from several esteemed design firms. Carlow County Council was impressed by Urban Agency’s innovative design approach, their commitment to sustainability, and their ability to balance functionality and aesthetics.
The new Chief Executive of Carlow County Council, Mr. Coilín O’Reilly stated “with Urban Agency on board, Carlow County Council is confident in their ability to realise a vision for Carlow Town that will attract businesses, improve the quality of life for residents, and create a welcoming environment for visitors. The URDF project presents an exciting opportunity to transform Carlow Town, preserve its heritage, and shape its future.”
